WASPADA ONLINE MEDAN, N SUMATERA - North Sumatera Legislative body expressed pessimism that national Transportation Department (Dephub) would finish International Kuala Namu airport erection on 2011, since central government remained passive to transfer supportin budget to meet the project's goal. The regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Ajib Shah concerned less amount budget realized from state budget APBN. "Regarding the situation, how we could carry out the target -- to have Kuala Namu operated on 2011 -- with the budget amounting some 600 billion rupiahs," he said. Dephub should anticipate the problem to allocate required budget, amounting 1.4 quintillion, for 2010 project, Shah suggested. "It's impossible to meet the goal, without central government support. Inadequate 2010 budget as much 1.4 quintillion," the Unity Development party (PPP) faction chairman in North Sumatera DPRD said. National Transportation Departement (Dephub) conveyed its goal to have International Kuala Namu airport actively operating on July 2011, North Sumatera Lawmaker said here. "Transportation Minister Freddy Numberi indirectly told the information, through his Air Transportation affairs General Director, Heri Bakhti as welcoming us in Jakarta," North Sumatera House of Representatives' (DPRDSU) Commission D chairman Ajib Shah told, as attending the meeting with Directorate General (Dirjen) for Air Transportation in Jakarta. Dephub pledge to set high priority to finish Kuala Namu airport erection, in which it would carried out 80 percent of the project on 2010, while the rest might be over on 2011, Shah told journalists in Medan, Sunday (Nov.29). Kuala Namu international airport intended to replace Polonia international airport in Medan, North Sumatra that has operated for more than 70 years old, and is expected to be second largest international airport in Indonesia behind Soekarno-Hatta international airport in Jakarta, capital city of Indonesia. Kuala Namu airport reconstruction also suspended as a result of surround land compensation involved in the project, in Simpang Kayu Besar (about 14.5 kilometers long), in Deli Serdang district, North Sumatra. The situation encounter dilemma toward the government to carry out the project soon, since allocated budget prepared for the land purchasing ought to be increased, head of Regional Development Plan (Bappeda) in North Sumatra, Riadil Akhir Lubis said here Monday (Nov.16).
