AJI calls officials to avoid fake journalists

TAKENGON, ACEH – The Indonesian Journalist Association (AJI) of Aceh province advises local officials and informants to involve security agency due to extortion efforts by journalists.
 
The suggestion socialized following numerous blackmailing incidents occurred in the province.
 
“Just call the police. No need to be afraid since the constitution protect us,” Lhokseumawe chapter AJI chairman M Nasir said Wednesday (Jul.28) here.
 
AJI visits several regional officials in Central Aceh regency, South East Aceh regency, and in the Gayo Lues regency to anticipate prolonged issue.
 
“AJI also holds campaign in the regency Police office, the Prosecutor’s office, and the Public Order agency (Satpol PP),” Nasir added.
 
He remarked his side introducing tips about how to identify true journalists.
 
“The informants not suggested to give any statement for journalists cannot show the press card,” he concluded.
